In this context, demonstrators took the streets to the headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in the country to demand an end to the impunity and aggression suffered by the peoples of the Middle East.
The Venezuelan Deputy Minister Rander Peña stated that hundreds of thousands of people marched in Caracas from the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda Park to the United Nations headquarters in the name of President Nicolás Maduro, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), and in solidarity with Palestine.
At the site of the gathering, demonstrators read a document then delivered to UN headquarters in Caracas, expressing the solidarity of the Venezuelan people with the cause of Palestine, where they demand to take effective action to stop the massacre, human pain, and suffering that the Palestinian people have endured for 76 years.
“We address you once again to demand that the institutions and representatives of the UN take responsibility and put an end to the impunity of the Israeli occupation, put an end to the dehumanization of the Palestinian people, and put an end to the endless violations of international and humanitarian law,” reads part of the document.
The text denounces the inaction of UN institutions in the face of Israeli occupation and the genocide of the Palestinian people, which has intensified since last October. It mentions the blockade that prevents humanitarian aid and the threat of similar aggressions against other countries, such as Lebanon.
The document makes a call to the International Court of Justice to stop the genocide, highlighting the mobilization in defense of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
Additionally, it criticizes the double standards of the UN, accusing it of being hijacked by the hegemony of the United States and the European Union, which use the organization as a tool to impose their vision of democracy and justify policies of hegemony, blockade, racism, and interventionism.
“We can no longer tolerate that some powers continue with their imperial desire to impose their exclusive vision of democracy and thereby try to justify hegemony, blockade, racism, and interventionism, and through terror attempt to normalize fascism,” states the document submitted to the UN.
